Kuhara Fusanosuke Biography

Kuhara Fusanosuke was the founder of Nippon Mining and is featured in this museum based in Hitachi, Japan,

This is a bust of my grandfather and myself.

My father started the Electric Company Hitachi at his mine.

Kuhara as a Diplomat took upon himself to travel to China and to meet with Mao Zedong in order to create a Pacific trading agreement.

Kuhara purchased a small mine in 1905.  Here is the first shot of the mine right after purchase.

  • Kuhara turned the mine into the 2nd largest copper mine in Japan.  Here is Kuhara with his department heads.  At one point his mine employed 6200 employees.  Originally ther mine was only surrounded by forest and away from all civilization, so he created a town and the entire infra-structure.

Mishima Yukio, the great Japanese author had tremendous respect for Kuhara and his political views, and his involvement in the February 26th Incident.

Kuhara gave Sun Yat Sen an enormous amount of money to fund the Chinese Revolution.
