Grandfather Kuhara

This machine shop at the mine, is the birth of Hitachi Electric.  They built the first 5 horsepower electric motor in Japan.

These are more photos taken at the Kobe estate for the Czar's brother.  The floor here is composed entirely of wood knots.

50th anniversary celebration of my grandfather's death, Feb. 29 - 2014.   Event at Happoen.

This is my brother sitting on my grandfather's lap.

This lantern was brought to the Mining museum from his last estate.

Bust of my grandfather, who is featured in this museum.

The Kuhara family crest is composed of 5 fans.  I remember this lantern when I was a boy, at his Shirokane-dai residence.

This is my American grandfather shooting a photo of my Japanese grandfather and grandmother.

This is Happoen, which is a very famous estate in the middle of Tokyo.  It is now a huge wedding and banquet facility.  My mother spent her teenage years growing up here.
