Kuhara Shrine, Lantern and Family Crest

Kuhara Fusanosuke shrine (built after death of son in Motor Car Accident with Train.)

Kuhara Shrine and Lantern.
The family crest of 5 fans is imbedded in the Lantern
Kuhara built this memorial shrine for his ancestors, using the wood from the "thousand year old
cedar" which he was forced to cut down because it was in a construction site.  He had the wood transported to his home in Sumiyoshi, Kobe to build a temple devoted to the goddess Kannon.  When he moved to Shirokane in Tokyo, he used the lumber from the temple to build this shrine.  It was later donated to Nippon Mining Museum by the Kuhara family, and now stands beside the museum's main hall where it is known as "Jingaido."

My other grandfather Talbot Patrick, from America, takes photos of the Kuharas at the Shrine in Shirokane
